Perfectionism is Poison

Perfectionism has been on my mind and is brought up often with my clients.

I don’t know about you, but the perfectionist in me wants things to be buttoned up before I move forward. However, having things ‘perfect’ can be a way to deal with the fear of failure or the fear of being judged. You delay and delay until things are ‘just so.’ You avoid dealing with it. You hide in your safe, perfectionist bubble.

But it’s poisonous to do this.

Nothing is ever perfect. We are not supposed to be perfect. The only way to make an impact and to grow, change, and transform is to take action. Even if we mess up.

Often, amazing things happen when we go for it, when we try. If we wait for perfection, the opportunity is missed. At the very least when we move past the fear, we learn something and apply it to the next time.

And you’ll get better and better.

👉🏻 If you want to make a change in your life or in your career, you have to let go of Ms. or Mr. Perfectionist. Just like what they say about business decisions, if you’ve got it 80% right, then go!

Nearly all high achievers struggle with perfectionism. I’ve been there. It’s a comfortable place.

If you’re struggling with this in an area of your job or life, I’d love to hear more. I know how to take off the perfectionist hat and still have the success I want. I’d love to help you do that too.
